About me

Hello my name is Georgia Lesters and I am from California, America. I am suffering with an hearing impairment and have been since I was 5 years old. I do not remember what it was like to hear mine own or others voices. I go to a special school where they teach me sign language and give me a education. I really wish I didn't have to go to a special school, I just want to be a normal kids living a normal life. It is really frustrating how everyone thinks I am dumb just because I can't talk properly. It is also annoying when people judge me and treat me differently just because I can not hear. Wearing a hearing aid is another disadvantage of being deaf, as people always look at me strangely. These are just a few of the things I have to over come on a daily basis. On a positive note the friends I have made through me special school and the deaf society are truly amazing. We all appreciate each other on so many different levels and there is never any falling out.

I guess I have learned to live with my disability and realised that my life is no less enjoyable than those that can hear.
